Endodontists are dentists who have additional training and experience to treat the dental pulp and surrounding tissues the roots of a tooth. ROOT CANAL THERAPY

A root canal is one of the most common dental procedures performed by Endodontists, well over 14 million every year. This simple treatment can save your natural teeth and prevent the need of dental implants or bridges.

TRAUMATIC INJURIES

Traumatic injuries to the face, mouth or a tooth can be the cause for immediate treatment to save the tooth and surrounding teeth. Dislodged or avulsed teeth may require root canal therapy immediately following the injury or trauma.

CRACKED TEETH

Cracked teeth, other than trauma, could be the result of medical conditions and biting a hard object. We treat root and nerve pain caused by cracked teeth, craze lines, a fractured cusp, a split tooth, and vertical root fractures.

APICOECTOMY

An apicoectomy is commonly known as endodontic microsurgery because it is often performed using a surgeon’s microscope. During a root canal inflamed or infected tissue is removed. An apicoectomy removes the root tip, or apex along with the infected tissue. A filling is then placed to seal the end of the root.

ENDODONTIC RETREATMENT

In rare cases, endodontic retreatment is needed months or years after a root canal. Endodontic retreatment may be caused by new decay exposing the root canal filling, a new infection, a delay in crown placement after the initial root canal, crown or restorative contamination, or a curved canal was untreated.

DENTAL COUNSELING

General dentists often refer patients to us to determine if a root canal is needed, this is called an evaluation. In some cases, this is after a traumatic injury or treatment for deep decay. Our root canal specialists will often order 3d dental images (x-rays) to determine if the tooth can be saved with the root canal procedure.
